Dr. Rachael Webb is a freelance clarinetist and music educator based in Daphne, Alabama and currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Music at the University of Mobile, where she teaches applied clarinet and woodwind pedagogy.
In addition to collegiate teaching, Dr. Webb manages a thriving private studio of middle school and high school students. Over the years, her students have been selected for numerous festivals within the Alabama Music Educators Association and Ohio Music Educators Association, as well as the National Association for Music Education National Band, the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble, and the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra. Several of her students have gained admission to renowned universities and conservatories, including Florida State University and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Beyond private teaching, Dr. Webb has also served as a clinician at numerous middle schools, high schools, and colleges throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, and Alabama.
As a performer, Dr. Webb is sought out as an orchestral and chamber musician and has most recently performed with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. She was selected as a finalist for the 2019 International Clarinet Association Orchestral Audition Competition and placed amongst the top four finalists. She also performed as a soloist at the 2021 ClarinetFest Conference.
Throughout her doctoral studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Dr. Webb served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant in Clarinet. Her cognate in chamber music, coupled with a passion for the compositions of Brahms, led to her lecture recital which explored Brahms’ various clarinet works and the musician who inspired them. Dr. Webb’s additional interest in pedagogy resulted in her final doctoral research project, which discusses the pedagogical strengths of numerous clarinet method books, ranging from beginner to advanced levels, best suited for the private lesson setting.
Dr. Webb holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and a Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree from the Pennsylvania State University. She has studied clarinet with Christopher Pell, Ralph Skiano, Ronald Aufmann, Dr. Anthony J. Costa, and Dr. Deborah Andrus.
Dr. Webb performs exclusively on Buffet Crampon clarinets.
